The IMC @ LCHS: It’s Not Just About the Books
The library at Lincoln Community High School is known as the Instructional Materials Center or better known as the IMC. It is located on the second floor of the building at the corner of Illinois Avenue and Lookout Lane.
The mission of the Instructional Materials Center at LCHS is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.

This mission is accomplished by:
• Providing students and staff with access to materials in a variety of formats (both in the IMC and online)
• Providing instruction to develop independent readers and information literate students
• Collaborating with staff and administrators to support the curriculum through diverse learning and instructional opportunities
- from Information Power: Guidelines for School Library Media Programs (1988) p.1

There are many types of materials in the IMC. You will find encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases and almanacs. There are many magazines, newspapers, the vertical file, as well as lots and lots of books! The computers in the IMC expand our resources outside the walls of the IMC to other libraries and databases. These computers can also help students keep up-to-date with classes and grades by using Skyward and Edline. Our card catalog can be accessed online from any computer at any time. The website for the IMC can be accessed from any computer through the internet and is available 24/7.

Students and staff use the IMC during every school hour and before and after school.
